There are many topics which are debated in the world, and greenhouse gardening tools are no different. For those outside the gardening world, this may sound strange, but for those who live the life every day, it’s common knowledge.
Which tools are essential? Which are only there to make life easier? This article touches on a few of these tools, along with their weight in the greenhouse gardening world of necessities.
The Essential Greenhouse Gardening Tools
There are a few must-haves when you embark on greenhouse gardening. As an example, and kit would include your soil and seeds or seedlings, a pot in which to place them, and of course, the greenhouse in which to grow them.
Pots. Pots come in many materials and sizes. They can be organic peat pots, clay pots, plastic pots, or even recycled coffee cans, 2 –liter soda bottles, or Styrofoam cups. Some greenhouse gardeners even prefer to forgo pots altogether and till and plant the ground directly under the greenhouse roof. Others prefer to plant an outdoor garden and use portable greenhouses or cold frames to gain the beneficial effects of greenhouse gardening without the added expense of constructing a full-scale greenhouse.
Soil. Just as home chefs across the world have their own special recipe for chicken noodle soup or other favorite dishes, greenhouse gardeners have their very own special preference of soil. You can have an ultra-fancy mix of vermiculite, potting soil, and compost made from your kitchen scraps or just add something special to the ground outside your house. Gardeners far and wide have varied ideas of what the perfect growing soil is.
Seeds. One of the most intriguing things about being a gardener is in taking seeds, seedlings, or saplings, and nurturing them into the plants they're destined to become. How you start off this variety and what you choose to grow is often a highly personal decision for the gardener.
Greenhouse. Do you have the room to build a grand freestanding greenhouse complete with irrigation and temperature control? Or is your budget and space available more conducive to a lean-to against an existing structure? What you decide on has a good deal to do with your budget, skills, and zoning requirements.
Your greenhouse will be as distinctive as you're. Have fun with it! Love the color blue? Have an ocean theme with your greenhouse gardening tools. Love green? You could have everything from deep forest green to sea foam for your colors.
Have to have the bubble gum pink? You are able to do that too! This really is yours both inside and out – so enjoy making it the way you want it!
